Another day, another concert – this time Jason Mraz in Zurich at Volkshaus! It’s been a long time coming, since the last time I saw Jason was way back in 2012 at Plaza. The Still Yours Tour already felt like something special on paper, and it absolutely delivered. For those who don’t know him: Jason Mraz is a Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter best known for his feel-good hits like I’m Yours and Lucky.

Volkshaus was, for once, fully seated – which I’ve personally never experienced there before (for concerts). But in this case, it made perfect sense for the show’s stripped-down setup. The venue was sold out.

A Familiar Crowd and Good Vibes

What stood out was the audience – for once, pretty much my age, which felt really nice. Earlier that evening I had a fun chat with Nina from KekoasKorner. She mentioned she expected the fanbase to be more like Dean Lewis’ crowd (so quite a bit younger), and I laughed, saying those fans probably were younger back when Jason Mraz had his big hits. Needless to say, we cracked up over it.

Jason Mraz, Storyteller and Comedian

Jason delivered a fantastic set – just him, his guitar, and a simple backdrop resembling a church window. The whole vibe at the show was relaxed and joyful, setting the tone for what would be a really fun night. The simplicity really worked; it was all about the music and the stories. Hearing all the songs in such a stripped-down way was magical. Jason also showed off his sharp sense of humor; honestly, he could do stand-up comedy. Between his many anecdotes about life and songwriting, one line stuck with me: something about an “island of reality and an ocean of diarrhea” which had everyone laughing. He played for almost two hours, and I enjoyed every single minute.
