Another Day, Another Concert – Last night we got to see Gavin James in Zurich at Plaza. After performing in Lausanne the night before, Irish singer-songwriter Gavin James brought his heartfelt music to Plaza Zurich. Perfect for another night of pure emotions.

Known for his emotional and mostly sad ballads and extraordinary voice, Gavin has been making waves with his deeply personal lyrics and stunning live performances. This time around, he once again proved why he deserves a much bigger spotlight.

A Night of Passionate Vocals and Charming Irish Vibes

Local artist Ladina opened the night. She delivered a solid set before Gavin took the stage shortly after 8:30 PM. He kicked things off with a beautiful, stripped-down version of The Book of Love. Just him and his guitar—an intimate start that set the mood for the rest of the show. As always, Gavin was his chatty and charming self, making the audience laugh with his signature rapid-fire talking. But the real magic happens when he sings—his voice is simply breathtaking. The passion and emotion he pours into every note always gives me chills. The heartbreak in his lyrics definitely hit even harder live.

A Setlist Full of Feelings and a Surprise Cover

The audience was quite mixed, with lots of couples in attendance. And for some reason, I couldn’t help but notice a surprising number of very tall men in the crowd. No idea why that stood out, but it did! While the setlist spanned his discography, I did miss a few personal favorites from Bitter Pill, especially 22 (though maybe it’s for the best—I’d have been a sobbing mess). The crowd was a little reserved at first, typical for Zurich, but they warmed up as the night went on. One unexpected highlight? A cover of Jolene—definitely not on my bingo card! And the encore? City of Stars, which I absolutely love when he performs. Gavin James remains one of the most underrated artists out there. If you ever get the chance to see him live, do it—you won’t regret it!
