Another day, another concert! On Sunday, it was time for Matt Hansen in Zurich at Papiersaal. It was Matt’s first-ever show in Switzerland. So it was a special show for all of us. Hopefully, there will be many more.
For those unfamiliar with him, Matt Hansen gained fame through social media. Particularly TikTok, where his heartfelt lyrics and emotional delivery made him grow a huge fanbase. His rise to fame makes it no surprise that the audience was primarily young and female, eager to see the artist behind the songs they had connected with online.
A Solid Start with Stephen Dawes
Opening the night was young singer Stephen Dawes, an up-and-coming artist with a bright future. Although he looks like he’s barely out of high school—if even—his voice has a maturity that contrasts with his youthful appearance. He did a fantastic job setting the tone for the evening, and while the audience remained calm and quiet, you could tell they were soaking in every note and feeling the music.

Matt Hansen Takes the Stage
At 8:30 PM, Matt Hansen stepped on stage, instantly captivating the crowd with his powerful voice and engaging stage presence. The energy shifted, and suddenly, the audience was singing along. I was surprised by how many of his songs I actually recognized. The first one being “Versions of Forever”. A common theme throughout his set was clear—his ex. Most of his songs revolved around past relationships, which added a raw and personal touch to his storytelling. However, one track stood out from the rest: “Canary,” an unreleased song dedicated to his mom. Written about how she helped him find his way back home after a difficult period when he seemingly felt a little lost. Stuck in a bubble away from where he once was, ultimately, it was a heartfelt and touching moment in the show.

A Night to Remember
A refreshing surprise in the setlist was his rendition of “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls, which sounded amazing with his voice. It was great to hear a mix of unreleased tracks alongside the fan favorites, with “Something to Remember” being one of the most highly anticipated. The crowd sang along nicely, but I expected it to be a bit louder. Maybe I was just standing in the wrong spot. The night ended on a high note with “Let Em Go,” a perfect closing song to wrap up the evening. Matt Hansen’s stage presence is truly captivating, and with a crowd that was clearly excited and engaged, it made for an unforgettable evening. Another fantastic show at Papiersaal— absolutely no better way to end the week than with a concert, right?
