Hello Tomorrow Festival, Papiersaal 22.02.2025

Another Day, Another Concert, this Saturday we got to see Jerub and Soft Launch at the Hello Tomorrow Festival that was held at Papiersaal in Zurich. The Hello Tomorrow Festival is a brilliant concept. They offer a stage to emerging talents in order to give music lovers the chance to discover tomorrow’s stars.

On its second night, the festival featured two exciting acts: Jerub and Soft Launch. As always, Papiersaal provided a cozy yet vibrant setting. It was the perfect backdrop for an evening filled with fresh sounds and heartfelt and intimate performances.

Jerub: A Voice That Sticks with You

Opening the night was Jerub, an artist I was super excited to see again. After discovering him while he opened for Jake Isaac in London last November, I became a little obsessed with his music. And he did not disappoint. With his powerful voice, emotional lyrics, and charming stage presence, he didn’t just captivate me again, but the rest of the crowd too.

We were even lucky enough to hear some new and unreleased songs, making the night even more special. A highlight for me was when, after granting a bar staff member’s song request, he also played my personal favorite, “Finding My Feet.” It was another wonderful set filled with depth, emotion, and connection.

Soft Launch: A Fun and Energetic Follow-Up

The second act, Soft Launch, brought a contrasting energy to the stage. While they struggled with some technical issues early on, they handled it with humor and patience. They eventually delivering a solid and engaging performance. Their music had a more upbeat and indie-rock vibe, which got the crowd moving a little more.

One of the most entertaining aspects of their set was watching the band members switch instruments and spots throughout the show. Well, everyone except for the drummer, of course! It added a fun, spontaneous energy to their performance, making it feel dynamic and unpredictable.

A fun moment was also when they clarified a small but important detail. Even though the festival poster listed them as a UK band, only two of them were actually from the UK. The rest were from Ireland. This got a good laugh from the audience and added to the lighthearted atmosphere of their set. Their music, with its catchy melodies and driving rhythms, created a great contrast to Jerub’s soulful performance. The two acts were different, but made for a well-rounded night. While Papiersaal wasn’t packed, the people who were there were fully engaged. Soaking in the music and enjoying the discovery of new artists.

Jerub himself pointed out that a great show isn’t defined by the crowd size but by the energy and connection in the room—and that night, the vibes were just right. Big thanks to Just Because for organizing this lovely festival—I hope there will be another edition in the future.
