Another day, another concert – This time we got to see Limp Bizkit in Zurich at Hallenstadion. They brought the Nu-Metal energy to Zurich alright and took us all to Loserville! For those who might not know, Limp Bizkit is one of the defining bands of the late 90s and early 2000s nu-metal movement.

With hits like “Rollin’,” “My Way,” and “Break Stuff,” they built a reputation for high-energy shows and chaotic crowds. And Friday night was for sure no exception. While it took a while for the venue to fill up, we got up to a 10k audience by the time Limp Bizkit hit the stage. Before that, though, we had to get through four support acts. Four. Who came up with that idea? We’re all old—our bones and muscles don’t work like they did in the 90s! 😀 Still, it was fun to see the variety of acts.

A High-Energy Performance from Start to Finish

Finally, at around 21:35, Limp Bizkit took the stage, and the energy was through the roof. Security was on high alert, as some rowdy behavior had already started—no surprises there. Kicking things off with “Break Stuff,” the crowd was immediately pumped, and from that moment on, the GA floor never stopped moving. Mosh pits opened up every minute, making it one of the most chaotic shows I’ve seen in a while. One of the coolest parts of the night was the band’s incorporation of 90s classics into their set. Snippets of DMX’s “Party Up” and George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” were a fun touch, and I never thought I’d see a mosh pit open up to “Faith.” It was unexpected, but it worked.

Limp Bizkit in Zurich: Fan Interaction and an Epic Finale

Personally, I was looking forward to “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Rollin’,” but the entire setlist was solid. And while Fred Durst might now resemble a hip Santa Claus (I mean that in the best way possible!), he and the rest of the band brought incredible energy. Fred also took moments to interact with the audience, proving that a little fan engagement never hurts. 2 lucky fans even got to hop on stage, 1 to sing and one for a special happy birthday moment— both looked way too young to have lived through Limp Bizkit’s heyday, but from what I saw while photographing, they were rocking out like there was no tomorrow. Well deserved!

After a little over an hour, the show closed the same way it started: with “Break Stuff.” And let me tell you, Hallenstadion felt like it was about to be demolished—ok no, we’re not quite there yet, but the crowd was pumping.

Loserville in Zurich: Nostalgia for all us 80’s and 90’s Babies

This was definitely an experience! As a teenager in the 90s, I always wanted to see Limp Bizkit live. Now I understand why my parents weren’t too keen on letting me go alone back then 😀 A few years older (and maybe wiser), I got to enjoy the mayhem from a safe distance and admire how people manage to survive those mosh pits. Oh, and a fun fact: apparently, Fred Durst talked to me while I was photographing the DJ instead of him. Did I realize it? Yes, but way too late. With adrenaline rushing and my focus on the camera, I didn’t hear a word and just nodded and smiled at him. Hahaha!

All in all, an unforgettable night!
