Another day, another concert… We started the week with an Italian legend. We got to see Gianna Nannini in Zurich, the queen of Italian rock. Once again proved why she’s a legend. Known for her raspy, powerful voice and a career spanning over five decades, Nannini has been a defining figure in Italian music. Her music continues to resonate across generations.
This was my second time seeing her perform, and I’m still in awe. At 70 years old, she seems to not have aged a day—physically or energetically. I wish I had as much energy as she has!
A Seated Rock Concert?
Surprisingly, the show was once again seated. This felt a bit odd for a rock concert, especially considering her fiery Italian roots. Even more bizarrely, security initially insisted that everyone stay seated. But let’s be real—at a Gianna Nannini concert, that was never going to fly. Before the show even began, die-hard fans were already on their feet, dancing and singing, forcing security to eventually give up on enforcing the rule.
From Nostalgia to New Tracks
The atmosphere was a little more chill than I expected. But Gianna managed to fire everyone up when she performed “I Maschi”, with nearly the entire venue jumping up on their feet. While there were slower moments, like the title track of her new album “Sei nell’anima”, the energy remained high for the rest of the night.
Enjoying Gianna Nannini in Zurich Without Knowing Every Song
Even though I literally only knew three songs, I still thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Most of you know I don’t follow Italian artists closely or even speak the language. But I love feeling the passion and the connection music creates. Watching the crowd live in the moment and bask in nostalgia is always a treat. And let’s not forget, Italians are nothing if not passionate, filling the evening with vibrant energy and emotional highs.
Gianna Nannini remains a testament to timeless talent and unwavering spirit, delivering a show that, seated or not, rocked the night.
