Another day, another concert, this time Burna Boy in Zurich. The Nigerian superstar has become one of the most influential voices in Afrobeats. Blending global sounds with roots that travel far beyond genres and borders. This felt like it was bound to be a night filled with Afrobeats and vibes to last for days. Or so I thought. Still, as my first show of 2026, I was excited to be back in the pit. Camera ready, heart wide open.
First up was support act Nissi, who warmed up the crowd with smooth confidence and infectious rhythms. I later found out she is indeed Burna Boy’s sister: She clearly knows how to hold her own on stage. Her set was a solid opener, easing the Hallenstadion crowd into the groove before the main event. With a slight delay, Burna Boy finally stepped on stage a little after 9.30pm.

Crowd Energy and Atmosphere at Hallenstadion
I honestly expected Hallenstadion to burst at the seams, but the show was not sold out. There were a lot of people, yet even down in GA there was plenty of space. The upside was obvious. Loads of room to dance, and many people truly turned the floor into their personal dance space. Loved seeing them all have fun. The vibe when Burna Boy appeared was exciting, but I have to admit I have seen and heard louder crowds.
A Great Show Despite Mixed Crowd Vibes
The show itself was pretty awesome. The stage was built right in the middle of the standing area, giving great views from almost everywhere. From my seat, I had a perfect view not only of Burna Boy but also of the band. I always love watching the band. While the people around me carried the vibes, dancing and singing like there was no tomorrow, the overall crowd energy felt lower than expected. Even though I did not know half the songs and this is not my usual genre, I had a great time. I am glad I got to experience Burna Boy in Zurich. It was great to see an artist I might otherwise have missed. Big thanks to Gadget for having me again.
