Another day, another concert – this time it was Alessia Cara in Zurich, lighting up the stage at Plaza Klub in Zurich. For those who might need a refresher, Alessia Cara is a Canadian singer-songwriter who took the world by storm with her hit song “Scars to Your Beautiful.”
Before Alessia graced the stage, we got to enjoy a surprising and seriously enjoyable opening set from Marti Perramon. I’ll admit it — I didn’t do my research beforehand (oopsie), so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But what a pleasant surprise! His set was groovy, vibey, and set the perfect tone for the evening. It was one of those moments where you just get pulled in by the energy without even realizing it.

Intimate Vibes and Electric Energy
Unfortunately, Plaza Klub wasn’t sold out — which in hindsight is such a shame because Alessia Cara was incredible and so many people missed out on a gem of a show. The front rows were packed with young girlies and a few boys sprinkled in, all buzzing with anticipation. Around 8:30 PM, Alessia hit the stage and immediately filled the room with contagious positive energy. The fans in the front were singing along from the very first note, completely immersed in the music.
An Underrated Star with a Powerful Stage Presence
From the moment she stepped on stage, Alessia made it clear that she wasn’t just there to perform — she wanted to connect. The way she locked eyes with fans and interacted throughout the set created such a warm and intimate vibe. She played several songs off her new album Love & Hyperbole but didn’t forget to include her beloved hits, which the audience devoured. I was honestly surprised by how many songs I actually recognized. Her voice? Stunning. It reminds me a bit of Olivia Dean, but with a huskier, more pop-forward twist. And let’s not forget the band — they were tight, vibing hard, and even joined in singing from time to time.

Alessia Cara Deserves Bigger Crowds
If you still think Alessia Cara is just the “Scars to Your Beautiful” singer, think again. She’s got depth, range, and a stage presence that deserves way more recognition. Having seen her before when she opened for Shawn Mendes, I can confidently say she’s grown a lot and then some. It’s honestly baffling that she played to a half-full venue. But hey — sometimes it takes a little longer for the Swissies to catch on to real talent.
I for one definitely left the show feeling lighter, smiling, and with a little less baggage (or at least trying to let go of some things) so pretty much how Alessia hoped we all would leave the show <3
