Another day another concert, this time it was Zach Top in Zurich heating up The Hall. The Washington-born country artist has been making serious waves with his neo classic sound, breathing fresh life into 90s inspired country. Just a few weeks after winning his first Grammy Award, he was kicking off his EU tour in Zurich.
Before the headliner took the stage, it was time for Wyatt McCubbin. He delivered an honest, heartfelt set that set the tone perfectly. Beyond being a strong performer himself, he has also been busy behind the scenes, writing a lot of songs for other artists like Lainey Wilson buz also Zach Top.

Cowboys, cowgirls and a beautifully mixed crowd
At 9pm sharp, Zach Top stepped on stage. The Hall was nicely filled, not quite sold out, but buzzing with anticipation. What I absolutely loved was how many people dressed up for the occasion. Cowboys and cowgirls everywhere. Hats, boots, fringe, the whole shabang…
The audience was refreshingly diverse too. I have noticed that with more classic leaning country artists, the crowd often skews 40 to 50 plus. This time, there were loads of younger fans as well. Seeing more and more young people show up for traditional country shows is something I truly love. It gives the genre a bright and steady future.
A two hour masterclass in stage presence
Zach did such a great job. From the first note to the final bow, he carried the room with ease. The stage design looked fantastic, though I would have loved to see the jukebox prop a little more involved. Still, visually it worked beautifully.
The band was excellent, and I really appreciated how every member was introduced thoroughly and given their own little spotlight moment. Those five minutes of fame for each musician made the show feel warm and personal. Zach himself has an incredible stage presence, a constant lovely smile, and an undeniable talent that makes everything look effortless.
Bluegrass roots in Switzerland
One of my personal highlights was the small bluegrass focused set where Zach went back to his roots. Knowing he started out in that subgenre made it feel authentic and intimate, like flipping through the first pages of his musical story.
He also played for a full two hours, which is longer than I am usually used to at similar shows. Sitting up on the balcony, I was so happy to see proper fans even up there, singing along loudly and clapping. All in all, another great country music night in Switzerland. Here’s hoping many more boots will keep dancing on Swiss floors in the future. 🤠
