Another day, another concert — this time it was Volbeat in Zurich at Hallenstadion! The Danish band, known for hits like Still Counting and Lola Montez, once again proved why they’ve earned such a loyal following over the years.

Before Volbeat took the stage, the crowd was treated to two supporting acts that set the tone for a high-energy evening filled with riffs and headbanging moments.

Witchfever & BUSH Open the Night

First up was Witchfever, a punk and doom-infused rock band known for their fierce energy and unapologetically raw sound. Their set was a little dark but powerful and charged with attitude. The perfect way to kick off the night. Following them was BUSH, who delivered an incredible performance full of crowd-pleasers and infectious energy. I had the opportunity to photograph their entire show, so if you’re curious, you can check out the photos here: BUSH Concert Photos. Both openers warmed up the audience nicely, setting the stage for the main act everyone had been waiting for.

Volbeat’s Set: Fans, Energy & A Solid Performance

When Volbeat finally took the stage, Hallenstadion was packed. The show was almost completely sold out (we’re not going to mention those few empty seats). The GA floor was beyond packed, and the crowd was a fun mix of ages and genders, with plenty of hardcore fans proudly wearing their Volbeat merch.

While I personally felt the energy dipped a bit compared to BUSH’s set, and I wasn’t alone with that thought. People on the right side of the arena mentioned the same thing. The left side was clearly more lively, with small mosh pits breaking out throughout the show. It did get a bit better towards the end of the set. I did see a bunch of crowd surfers emerge from the right side too.

Volbeat delivered a solid, professional set, and fans around me were thrilled. Personally, I was reminded why I don’t connect with their sound as much. Their style feels quite repetitive to me. But seeing the joy on fans’ faces makes me just as happy. I still had a great time because, after all, concerts are my happy place, and there’s nothing better than being surrounded by people having the time of their lives.
