Another day, another festival – Empire of the Sun at Zurich Openair was for sure my personal highlight on day 2 of ZOA. The vibes were immaculate and the weather was still holding up.

Day 2 of Zurich Openair Weekend 1 was another great and sunny day. We got great music, Swiss legends and Techno-Icons and then there was Empire of the Sun and Halsey that reigned on the mainstage. But first off, here are a few photos of all the other acts too:

One of my personal favorites this weekend was Swiss singer Andryy. He’s super sympa, his songs are really sweet, and he created such a feel-good vibe. Loved it!

Sevdaliza brought something completely different to the festival. You could say moody, atmospheric, and artistic. Her performance added a unique touch to the line-up.

I also had to check out Ennio, who impressed with his stage presence and smooth performance. I’m usually not so much into German music, but Ennio brought out a nice and fun crowd, and his songs are actually quite catchy and cool. Another nice discovery!

Empire of the Sun were a huge highlight for me personally. I’d seen them back at Coachella in 2017, so I knew the show was going to be amazing – and it absolutely was! The visuals, the costumes, the music – everything was on fire. I was so happy to see them again and even happier to photograph them.

With the Swiss legends Patent Ochsner, we got to hear some very iconic Swiss songs too.  Their heartfelt performance connected beautifully with the crowd and reminded me why they’re such a staple here. Finally hearing W. Nuss vo Bümpliz live, was quite special.

Halsey’s set was another big one for the weekend. Sadly, no photographers were approved (so no photos here), but her show itself was fire! Some people said it was too rock-heavy, but I actually loved that it leaned more into that raw, harder vibe.

There was also one big bummer – UFO361’s show. Just minutes before it was supposed to start, it got canceled. So far there’s still no official statement about why. Definitely left a lot of fans disappointed.

And finally… Scooter. Honestly, if you’d told me back in 1994 that I’d be shooting a Scooter set in 2025, I would have laughed. Laughed hard and loud, straight into your face. But here we are. Ears ringing, eyebrows slightly singed (because the pyro was insane and nobody warned us in the pit), and me still yelling “Hyper hyper!” It was absolute chaos – but also such a wild and fun experience.

All in all, Zurich Openair 2025 Weekend 1 was full of surprises, great music, and some unforgettable moments. From Shawn Mendes’ headliner energy to Empire of the Sun’s insane visuals, plus Swiss gems like Andryy – it was a weekend to remember.
