Another day, another concert, this time it’s Marc Broussard in Zurich at Papiersaal. The Louisiana native is known for blending blues, rock, and Southern soul into a voice that feels like warm vinyl on a summer evening. After selling out shows at Mühle Hunziken a couple times over the past few years, it was about time he made his way back to Zurich. And the city was more than ready to welcome him.
Opening Set: Brian Mackey Warms Up the Crowd
First up was Brian Mackey. It was also a bit of a throwback moment for me… I first saw him back in 2018 when he supported Tyler Hilton and Kate Voegele. His set was the perfect warm-up, easing the crowd into the soulful atmosphere that the evening had in store.

Soulful Moments and a Raw Encore
At 20:30 it was finally time for Marc Broussard and his band to take the stage. Having him back in my city felt long overdue, and I loved every second of it. As always, he brought his signature Southern charm and deep soul to the stage. The set did feel a little shorter than expected.. Marc might not have been feeling one hundred percent, but he still gave it his all.
During the encore, some technical issues caused the microphones to stop working… That led to a surprisingly special moment when Marc just sang without one. Hearing “Cry to Me” like that felt intimate and raw, a real treat for everyone in the room.
A Band That Elevates the Show
I have seen Marc Broussard many times now, yet he somehow still feels like a breath of fresh air every single time. His stage presence and those incredible vocals are simply chef’s kiss. The band deserves the same praise. Bobby Jr brought an amazing sound with guitar solos that were absolutely wild. Terry on the drums even showed off his voice this time around. I did miss Jason Parfait on keys and sax… But the new guy Bob stepped in and did a great job. All in all it was a lovely evening, and it was great to see Brian again too. Here’s hoping Marc returns to Zurich again soon.
