Another day, another festival – Jelly Roll at Zurich Openair was my personal highlight on Day 1. While still trying to recover from weekend 1, weekend 2 was in full swing faster than I thought.

The first day of Zurich Openair 2025, Weekend 2, started off strong with Eurovision contestant Zoë Me opening the mainstage.

Zoe Me Kicking Off Zurich Openair 2025

Her performance brought a bit of a different vibe to the festival. The crowd was still slowly dropping in at this point. But those who showed up early were treated to a bright and soulful set.

Jelly Roll at Zurich Openair – My Highlight

Without a doubt, the absolute highlight of the day was Jelly Roll’s set on the mainstage. It still feels unreal that he had such an early slot. His performance deserved the prime spot right before Post Malone. The mix of raw emotion, charisma, and powerful vocals had the entire audience captivated. Many people (myself included) were wondering why he wasn’t scheduled later in the evening. Either way, I was super happy to see so many cowboys and cowgirls in the audience!

Leila Bringing Magic to the ZOA Stage

I also got the chance to check out Leila over at the ZOA stage. Her set created a more intimate vibe compared to the mainstage. She also drew in a small crowd with her unique sound. It was a refreshing break before heading back to the bigger acts.

Becky Hill – A Bittersweet Experience

Becky Hill also took over the ZOA stage with her signature powerhouse vocals. Despite the rain that hit during her set, her performance was great. She brought out all the hits and had the crowd dancing and vibing. There were a few super cute die-hard fans in the front row (peep the photos). Sadly all promo was canceled on very short notice. So the interview I had scheduled with her didn’t happen. I’m sorry to everyone who sent in questions for it.

Rita Ora Owning the Mainstage

Another big moment came when Rita Ora took over the mainstage. She delivered hit after hit with infectious energy, reminding everyone why she remains such a strong festival act. It’s clear she has a soft spot for Zurich Openair, and the crowd gave that love right back. Her set was not only fun to watch but also a joy to shoot. Easily one of the most vibrant performances of the day.

01099 Keeping the Crowd Moving

Later on, the German combo 01099 turned the ZOA stage into one big party. Their high-energy show had the entire crowd bouncing along to every beat. It was impressive to see how many people turned up and how quickly they got swept up in the fun atmosphere. Definitely one of the more energetic sets of the day.

Post Malone Closing with a Bang

The night, of course, belonged to Post Malone. His set was clearly the biggest draw of the evening and delivered on every level. Hit after hit, an electrifying stage presence, and a sea of fans singing along to every word. Sadly, no media photographers were allowed for this performance, which meant no pit access. Still, I managed to capture a few snaps from the crowd with my phone.

Day one of weekend 2  was packed with some great performances. Jelly Roll stood out as the highlight. Over at the ZOA stage 01099 turned the crowd into one big party. Becky Hill’s powerful show was a little bittersweet with the canceled promo and photo restrictions, but still a strong performance. The night ended with an explosive set from Post Malone, easily the biggest moment of the day. Despite a few setbacks behind the scenes, the energy and atmosphere made for an incredible start to the weekend.
