Another day, another concert – Chappell Roan in Zurich at Hallenstadion, and it felt like a little jackpot in the middle of festival season. Somehow, we scored a Chappell Roan headline show. What a treat.

For anyone not yet on the Chappell train: she’s one of the brightest rising pop stars out there, serving big vocals, big theatrics, and even bigger outfits.

Fabulous Drag Queens

The night started off with a bang thanks to not one, not two, but three drag queens – Paprika, Trophikahl Ivy, and Viktor von Karma – who made sure the crowd was properly warmed up (on a day with almost 30° outside 😀)

Walking into the venue, I couldn’t help but laugh – it’s been a while since I’ve seen that much pink… And yes, that many literal fans creating tropical-storm-winds in the crowd. To be honest, I kind of expected a super young audience, but it was actually pretty refreshing to spot plenty of people my age too. From the very first beat, the vibe was immaculate – the crowd was all in, dancing, screaming, and living their best lives.

Music, Magic, and Feeling Seen

When Chappell finally took the stage, she seemed genuinely thrilled to be here, and the feeling was mutual. She mentioned how nice it was to play Zurich, and you could tell she meant it. The energy was different from a festival – no casual passersby or people waiting for the “next act.” This was a room full of people here just for her. It really made the whole thing feel extra special.

Even though the over-the-top costumes and theatrics are not totally be my cup of tea, I truly enjoyed this night. The catchy tunes, genuine little chats between songs, and the way the whole crowd felt happy and seen? That’s what made even me happy and I’m sure it made for an unforgettable night for all the fans too.
