Another day, another concert – it’s all about RY X at Luzern Live. While I was still in awe about the great set Hazlett played that night, I was very excited to see what the hype about RY X was about.

Australian singer-songwriter RY X is known for his haunting vocals, atmospheric sound, and emotional depth. I particularly loved the electronic elements and acoustic instrumentation. The music is like a unique sonic world. I had heard of RY X before, but intentionally avoided diving into his music beforehand. I wanted to experience the night with fresh ears and no expectations. Judging by the buzz in the room before the show, the rest of the crowd was more familiar with his work. They were clearly thrilled to see him live.

Unexpected Beats and a Crowd That Couldn’t Stay Seated

From the first few songs, I was honestly surprised—in the best way—by the cool beats and subtle grooves that accompanied most of the set. It wasn’t quite a party, but it had that infectious rhythm that got people up and moving. Scanning the room, you could see fans swaying and even dancing throughout the KKL venue. This really made for a beautiful and unexpected energy. What stood out most was the diverse crowd. Especially the strong presence of people in their (i’m guessing) 40s, 50s, and up. Based on the music alone, I wouldn’t have guessed that demographic, but everyone was fully vibing and enjoying themselves.

Technical Glitches and a Surprise Encore

The show ran incredibly smoothly… Until the very end, when a guitar issue caused a short disruption during the final songs. But instead of letting it kill the vibe, RY X and his team turned it into a moment of spontaneity by quickly launching into another track. While I didn’t recognize the originally planned song, the crowd clearly did. They erupted when it came back around—major shoutout to the tech crew for saving the moment. Apparently, there wasn’t going to be an encore, but the audience made sure one happened. With persistent clapping and cheering, RY X returned for one last heartfelt performance. Despite a bit of a lighting challenge for us photographers, it was a truly magical evening. So happy to have been part of Luzern Live this year—already looking forward to seeing what next year brings!
