Another day, another concert. This time it was a K-Pop concert by Korean star B.I. in Zurich. For sure a very new experience for me, but to my surprise I really quite enjoyed it. I now do understand the hype about K-Pop a little more.

Korean singer and rapper B.I, known for his talent and charisma, played an almost sold-out show in Zurich this week. It was a spectacular gig that left fans and K-Pop Newbies like me in awe. As someone who had never experienced a K-pop concert, I decided to go see what all the fuss was about.

Electrifying Energy for B.I

What I encountered was a night of incredible energy, breathtaking performances. The atmosphere was insane. You could feel the excitement in the air.

Walking into the venue, the excitement was palpable. The DJ was already on stage, and the crowd was hyped up, waving their signature light sticks in the air. These light sticks, a staple at K-pop shows, added a colorful and dynamic element to the audience’s enthusiasm.

B.I Was Welcomed with Screaming

When B.I finally took the stage, the crowd erupted into a deafening roar of cheers. From the moment he stepped onto the stage, his presence was commanding and undeniable. He began the show solo, but a few songs in, he was joined by two talented dancers who seamlessly complemented his performance.

B.I’s dance moves were nothing short of what you’d expect from a former member of one of the biggest K-pop idol bands. His moves seemed so effortlessly executed. However, as my Korean friend pointed out, B.I’s songs often carry meaningful lyrics that sometimes create a contrast with the perfect dance moves.

A Diverse Crowd at Volkshaus

The audience was mainly composed of enthusiastic younger girls, but there were also a few guys and some folks that seemed to be around my age (or maybe a little younger) who were clearly having the time of their lives. The atmosphere in the venue was undeniably happy and exciting, with fans singing, jumping, and erupting in screams whenever B.I glanced in their direction.

One thing that stood out during the show was B.I’s genuine concern for the well-being of his fans. He frequently checked on the crowd, encouraging anyone who felt unwell or uncomfortable to signal it by making an X with their arms. Several times, the show had to pause briefly to ensure the safety and well-being of the attendees.

Throughout the performance, a sea of phone screens shot up, capturing every memorable moment. However, this didn’t diminish the energy in the venue. There was never a quiet moment, and everyone jumped and clapped in unison as if they had rehearsed their reactions beforehand.

A Proper Concert Experience

Although K-pop might not have been my preferred genre, I couldn’t deny the show’s allure and excitement. It felt like a proper concert, and seeing the fans in awe of their idol was a touching reminder of the power of music to bring people together and create a shared sense of joy.

In the end, B.I’s show in Zurich was definitely memorable for me and so many others. The atmosphere was electrifying, the performances were top-notch, and the camaraderie among fans was heartwarming. Even for someone new to K-pop like me, it was an experience that I will not forget anytime soon. B.I’s ability to connect with his audience and create an unforgettable night of music and entertainment truly amazed me. It was a great show, leaving me with a newfound appreciation for the K-pop phenomenon and the dedication of its fans.
