Another day, another concert! This week we got to enjoy Macklemore at The Hall in Zurich. And boy was it a great night. Having seen him perform several times before, the first time being back in 2013 when he first came to Switzerland with Ryan Lewis, I was curious to see how this show would compare.

Before Macklemore took to the stage, we were treated to two supporting acts. The first was Charlieonafriday, a young artist from Seattle, followed by Tones and I, an Australian singer. I wasn’t sure what to expect from either of them, but I was pleasantly surprised, especially by Tones and I. She brought out a super-talented band and an absolutely mind-blowing choir, which left me with my jaw hanging open in amazement.

After the supporting acts finished, it was Macklemores turn. He opened with “Chant,” where Tones & I joined him on stage. From there, it was hit after hit, from “Thriftshop” to “Downtown,” “Same Love,” or “Wing$.” The audience was ecstatic from the very beginning. The fans up front were equipped with banners and their best smiles. You could really feel the excitement in the room.

Macklemore Has a Few Rules

Macklemore took a moment after the first song to inform the crowd about a few rules, one of which was to have fun and stand up. The audience definitely came through, and pretty much everyone up on the balcony was then standing and dancing. And they actually stayed that way too. Usually, people get up for a short while but then return to their seats. But honestly, with Macklemores set list, there was literally no time or no song that would make you want to sit down.

Immaculate Vibes at The Hall

As expected, the audience was nicely mixed, with people of all ages and backgrounds. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few young fans in the crowd, considering Macklemore has been around for over 10 years now, I didn’t expect to see that many young people.

No surprise at all, but Macklemore definitely brought the heat, and it felt like it was 30°C in the venue. That didn’t stop the audience from dancing, jumping, and having fun. Every single person in the room was up on their feet, singing along to the lyrics, and some even rapping every single word.

I loved how everyone was really enjoying themselves. The energy in the room was ultra-high and you could literally feel the passion of everyone up on stage. It was great to see how music can bring people from all walks of life together and create a sense of unity and shared experience.

As a fan from the early days, I particularly enjoyed hearing the older songs. “And We Danced” will always be one of my faves to hear and see live. This song always gets the crowd going and reminds me of the good old days. I’m not sure what other fans from the early days think, but I have to admit, the atmosphere may be a little different without Ryan Lewis and the old crew. I kinda miss the days when it felt like there were 30 people on stage 😀 Either way, I still had a great time and will ALWAYS go to a Macklemore gig if I get the chance. Overall, it was a glorious night (pun intended for sure) and another hit-filled and energetic show from Macklemore.
